About you
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Controls Engineer with extensive expertise in Beckhoff TwinCat PLC technology to lead our control systems development team.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing and implementing complex control systems, along with a deep understanding of Beckhoff TwinCat PLC programming and configuration. They will be using modern software techniques to ensure maximum reuse of code, executed to the highest quality. Used to integrating with sophisticated sub-systems, they will be using and have expertise in adjacent technologies such as networks, communication systems & protocols.
This individual will provide technical leadership and guidance, driving innovation and excellence in our control systems solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of control systems utilizing Beckhoff TwinCat PLC technology.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the controls engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and develop innovative solutions to meet client needs.
- Develop and implement advanced control strategies to optimize system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot Beckhoff TwinCat 3 PLCs and associated hardware.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems to ensure reliability and functionality.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in Beckhoff TwinCat PLC technology, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Provide technical expertise and support to internal teams and external clients as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, with a focus on Beckhoff TwinCat 3 PLC technology.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing complex control systems solutions.
- Extensive experience with Beckhoff TwinCat 3 PLC programming languages such as Structured Text (ST).
- Strong understanding of industrial automation systems and protocols.
- Experience with HMI/SCADA systems, motion control, industrial robotics and servo drives.
- Experience with Machine Vision Systems, laser sensors, and OCR systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project deployments and client meetings.
Additional duties:
As a fast moving startup, we require staff members to take on more than what is typically defined in a job description. These tasks may include things like building hardware, test fixtures and prototypes, testing software, lifting up to 30lbs on occasion and other tasks too broad to mention here but all necessary in moving a company from 0 to 1.
