The Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) aims to promote technology enablement in order to create an inclusive and world-class innovation economy in Oregon and Southwest Washington. This is a full-time position that will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Our team in Portland is dedicated to supporting all activities and programs in Oregon and Southwest Washington to enhance engagement. The ideal candidate for this role will be self-motivated, organized, confident, empathetic, hardworking, technically savvy, and always ready to innovate for improvement. This position will focus on engaging employees of our member companies in Oregon and Southwest Washington through a mix of marketing, communications, programming, and events, some of which will take place outside the Portland metropolitan area.

This position will support and develop TAO’s Membership and our Communities by creating and delivering engaging content and events that benefit our members and ensure value from membership. Communities are organized by job function and subject matter, providing valuable resources to TAO’s members through virtual and in-person professional development and networking opportunities throughout the year.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Organize and manage programs, meetings, and events related to:
○ TAO’s Communities
○ Membership
Solicit and manage volunteer leaders for programming on an annual basis.
Budgetary oversight for Communities (annual budgets TBD).
Research and understand trends and topics of importance to each program and/or Community.
Conceive and develop quarterly programs, including writing content, securing speakers and venues, and coordinating promptly with other TAO staff who will build event registration websites and promotional/marketing materials for quarterly events.
Collect and utilize data to make informed decisions regarding communities of interest, such as outreach strategies to drive event attendance, promotional outreach timing, etc.
Develop content and engage with members via TAO’s member-only platform, including connecting TAO members to resources and TAO initiatives.
Understand technology and business trends to propose and establish additional TAO Communities-of-Interest based on member demand.
Recruit TAO members to participate in TAO’s Communities-of-Interest.
Work with vendors, event venues, and sponsors when planning events for TAO’s Advocacy Initiatives and Communities.
Assist with miscellaneous projects and tasks related to marketing, membership, and events.
Salary, Bonus, and Benefits
Salary is $75,000 and will depend upon experience. This position will be eligible for annual bonuses. TAO offers a comprehensive insurance and benefits package, including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, cell phone allowance, and generous Paid Time Off (PTO), among other benefits.

Desired Skills and Experience

3-5 years of relevant work experience in event and program management.
Demonstrated ability to plan and execute in-person and online events.
Passion for helping to build a world-class and inclusive innovation economy in Oregon.
Experience in working with volunteer networks desired.
Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects.
Possess knowledge and skills in using web content and management systems, databases, and social media platforms.
Ability to be creative and change and adapt plans as needed.
Must be able to work flexible hours and have reliable transportation.
